Merilyn Monroe

Summary:

Barbara Leaming's, Merilyn Monroe or Norma Jeane is about a girl that was left alone in the world at a very young age. She didn't like accepting the fact that she was an orphan but the facts were inevitable. She wanted nothing but to be an actress but this goal seemed too hard to accomplish. While she was in some houses many men abused of her since she was beautiful. However, Merilyn was given a shot in Hollywood and she wasn't about to let it go. She started being intimate with many guys in order to get what she wanted. Nevertheless, she didn't want money or power so she turned down marriage offers. Johnny, a guy that fell in love with Marilyn told her to not be in films that weren't a big deal because then she would never obtain the big break she was longing for. To Marilyn's disgrace Johnny died from a heart attack and she felt lonesome again; she even tried to commit suicide but wasn't successful.

Quote:
"Money and security, the things Hyde and now Schenck offered, were never really what she was after. The whole point of getting involved with Johnny, Kazan, or any other men in her life had been to help her reach a goal. She wanted to be a person in her own right" (Leaming 26)
Response:
Marilyn wanted people to respect her and admire her. She wanted to accomplish her aspiration by becoming a famous actress. Many people thought she just wanted money and eternal wealth so many men told her to marry them. I think she was a woman with a set mind. She didn't want to marry someone she wasn't in love with. Many people in her place would have accepted the offers Marilyn received but not Marilyn.

  1. slow down the summary section, as you need to make stronger connections between each sentence so the reader can better understand all the characters.

the text needs to fit inside the white box
