And the Thruth is Revealed =x !

Summary:
Holden finally decided to visit Phoebe to talk to her and see what is going on in her life. Phoebe, his little sister started talking with him since they did not talk for a while. Since Holden really confides in Phoebe he told her that he got kicked out of school because of his failing grades. Phoebe then was really disappointed and started talking to Holden about what he plans to do with his life and Holden just kept evading her since he knew he had no clue on what to do with his future. Then Holden tells her that he's planning on leaving New York, he does not want to be with his family and he just decides that the best thing to do is leave. Then he calls Mr. Antolini, his favorite teacher and he lets him spend the night at his house. Afterwards, he went to Mr. Antolini's house and then when he left he went to the Grand Central Station then the next day he planned to meet up with Phoebe. When she saw him she had a suitcase and wanted to go with Holden but he refused then he just decided to take her to the zoo and in the end he just decided to go home with Phoebe. In the end result, Holden goes home and the story ends with the reader not truly knowing what will truly happen with Holden's future.

Quote:
"It's 'If a body meet a body coming through the rye'!" Old phoebe said. "It's a poem by Robert Burns" (Salinger 224).

Response:
This quote shows the significance to the story as a whole. First of all, this basically shows where the title was derived from and how it captures the book as a whole. Holden tried to say this quote and then Phoebe corrected him and he basically meant that he wanted to save children before they fall the same way Holden fell.

Can Holden Get More Annoying?

Summary:
Holden all throughout this chapter and even the book is acting in an annoying matter. He would always get on everyone's case and start talking about them as if he were a little kid. I infer that Holden has some type of hyperactive disorder. His attitude always reflects him acting in a childish way which does not really fit in with his age and the way his mind should run. Not many people get along with Holden and they act hypocritical towards him. I can tell Holden tries really hard to find new friends but he jus completely fails at it. Like in chapter 14 Holden hires a promiscuous girl but ends up not doing anything with her and he only pays her $5 when he was supposed to pay her $10. Then the girl's manager got mad and asked Holden for the money and as Holden refused, the guy punched him. Holden needs to learn how to grow up and live in the grown up world because he is definitely past the age of a child.

Quote:
"I've lived in New York all my life... I must have been drunker than I thought"(Salinger 200).

Response:
Holden at times feels so lonely that he lowers himself to get drunk and confide in alcohol to help him feel better. However, he lacks to know that alcohol causes him more problems than he ever thought.

How unreliable can Holden get?

Summary:
Holden went around New York seeking adventure since he did not want to go to home until Christmas vacation. Holden was a very lonely boy that in my opinion has some hyperactive disorder. Every time he would get on a cab he would ask the taxi drivers where the ducks go during winter. Holden also finds himself to be the only dumb one in his family. For example, his sister has gotten straight A's ever since she started school, his older brother is a writer who lives in Hollywood, and his dead brother was admired by all his teachers from how well he did in school. On the other hand, Holden is not as smart as them, since he got kicked out for bad grades in school. Not that many people like Holden because of the way his character is. He asks a lot of questions at times that have no importance whatsoever.

Quote:
"I have a helluva lot of trouble just finding what I'm looking for, for God's sake, if you know what I mean" (Salinger 122).

Response:
Not only does Holden annoy people a lot but he is also indecisive. He knows what he wants, but yet he wants it exactly how he depicts it. That is a bad characteristic because you are never going to get exactly what you want in life.
